Use sunscreen on the back of your hand and decollete daily. These areas will show your age fast if not protected.

Use a sunscreen with at least an SPF 30 to be properly be protected by the suns harmful UV rays.

Apply your sunscreen on your face, back of the hands, and decollete 30 minutes before sun exposure.

The hands will show the most age with dark (liver spots) forming over time from long-term unprotected sun exposure.

Keep your hands healthy and beautiful!

I think the secret to soft supple skin is drinking plenty of water and a nice lotion. I really like Bath and Body Works Japanese Cherry Blossom. This body lotion feels great on my skin and the smell is amazing.

Sunscreen is another product to consider to prevent your skin from burning in the sun. Over time, prolonged sun exposure can leave your skin feeling tough and dry like elephant skin. No one wants that.

I found a photo of myself and my years of sunscreen use and decided to share it with you.  It was found on the website showcasing a cute animal print fabric ring.

A lot of the population is obsessed with the Jersey Shore cast. Their flamboyant “Jersey Attitudes” make great late night drama. While watching an episode of Snookie and JWOWW I noticed their skin.

I wonder what skincare products they use? Did I mention her cute white fabric flower cocktail ring. It was a definitely a cute addition to her dinner out fit!

Now the Federal Drug Administration is implementing a new rule using the words “broad spectrum” to mean it protects against UVB rays.

This rule will be in effect as of Summer 2012. Products using broad spectrum must prove they protect against these rays.

UVB rays are a factor when it comes to the cause of skin cancer. These harmful rays restructure the skins DNA causing rapid aging and cancer.

When it comes to getting in and out of the water; sunscreen must be applied regularly to continue the efficacy of the product.

There is no such thing  as a waterproof or sweat proof sunscreen.

The FDA will now make manufacturers of sunscreen products disclose information about their broad spectrum ingredients.

Sunscreens claiming to only protect with an SPF of 15 must carry a disclaimer saying they DO NOT protect against skin cancer.

SPF 50  is the highest permitted protection factor recognized by the FDA. When researching sunscreens look into ingredients and Sun Protection Factor.

Most of us keep our make-up without thinking about the shelf life. The shelf life of a product means the time this product stays “fresh.”

A lot of us don’t even think about expiration dates when it comes to cosmetics.

In fact, almost all cosmetics don’t have an expiration date printed on the packaging.

Here are a few timelines to keep in mind when it’s time to retire that lip gloss you love:

✿ Mascara-3 months

✿ Foundation-12 months

✿ Sponges-after each use

(bacteria stays on the sponge after 1 use)

✿ Eye liner-12-18 months

(sharpen bacteria away)

✿ Liquid eye liner-6 months

✿ Eye Shadow-18 months

✿ Lip liner-12-18 months

✿ Sunscreen-6 months

✿ Lip gloss-If you can’t remember when you made the purchase…Throw it OUT!
